Slow Work

Well, with everyone being in school, the mod progress has been pretty slow. In the past month we may have got one, maybe two models done. On top of everything, we’ve had some issues arise that we’ve had to take care of. No worries tho, the mod is still in the works, but its taken a bit of a directional turn.  We’re still hashing out the details (none of which we are ready to release yet), but we are still keeping the end goal in mind, and that is to produce a epic conclusion to the tiberium series. With that said, we could still use some modelers and texturers with a unique perspective on C&C, as well as FMV artists. While we can get a mod running on just units and gameplay, we could really use the talent of video artists to produce quality CGI characters to make FMVs. Also, if you know anyone willing to be ‘THE VOICE OF KANE”, send them our way. Something tells me that Joe Kucan won’t be available for a few voice overs for a free mod.

Tiberian Eclipse Interview

http://cncnz.com/layout365/inside/tib_eclipse.jpg

Please tell us something about yourself and about your mod team?
I’m Damien, aka, Coolness7, aka, Naraku and I like Strategy games, Call of Duty, Need For Speed. I own a ps3 and I’m not as addicted to Starcraft 2 as some of the other people on the mod. The mod team does their best and even though there are about 20 of us, only about 6-10 of us get online at the same time (usually). Jay is the project coordinator and he runs the website, he’s very helpful when he’s not PO’d about something, and out of all of our team, everyone wants to do the storywriting, the team really comes up with great ideas and its a shame that we can’t use them all.

As we all know you’ve made a great start with your mod so can you please tell us something about it?
This mod started out as an idea to bring classic gameplay to C&C4, but since a C&C4 SDK was never released and probably never will be, we decided to move the project over to C&C3. At first we all put together our ideas and we didn’t have the experience to put the plan into motion, but as time went on, we got support and more great team members. This mod plans to bring the C&C4 class system into C&C3 and fuse it with traditional gameplay that we wanted to see in C&C4.

Bringing back the good times

Is it August already?
:Hides:

Ok ok, I’ll feed you a few updates. Scraps, ya hear me! Nothing more!

First off, Pizza Atomica has been able to get us numerous new concepts including Black Zones, GDI’s Hover MLRS, and more. Also JPNyt (Hey! That’s me!) has concepted a few pieces of art to give the setting of black zones.

http://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/387/386587/black-zone-concept2.jpg
Black Zones Defined (from the forums):
Black Zones resemble an alien world. Like Avatar on an acid trip. They would resemble a rain forest setting. Mossy ground, formed from decayed tiberium, trees that are bioilluminescent and have tiberium crystals on them, veins & vines running in/across the trees (and yes, the trees on the left are different from the one on the right (sketched one)). Where the moss doesn’t cover the ground, you would see cracks/fissures glowing green from tiberium embedded in the ground. The atmosphere would be primarily ion storms, though not always lightning.

The clouds would be a dark orange/greenish color, depending on A. The ionization levels / or the amount of tiberium toxicity. Yes, it is raining (and this is what I meant earlier when I said tiberium rain). The rain is a green hue from the tiberium gasses that have been evaporated into the atmosphere and is extremely toxic. So much so that contact with this rain would cause seizures and death in a matter of seconds. Even the forgotten would be leary of this rain, but more resistant to it. (think: unprotected soldier = 100% chance of dying, no visceroid. Flesh is absorbed into the ground and fed to plants/wildlife. and think: mutant = 30-70% chance depending on mutation type) Rare red tiberium crystals would form in this setting, as well as blue/green moss, and blue/green crystals.

In certain areas you would see the giant tiberium monoliths/glaciers crumbles, cracked, and chipping apart, forming a type of “dirt” that the moss grows on. Visceroids would remain primarily in yellow/red zones, acting as defensive mechanisms for this new “habitat”. Tiberian fiends/floaters would occupy red/black zones. New species would be found only in black zones, only able to survive in the tiberium atmosphere (think: our poison is their oxygen.)

The “rooted” tiberium would grow around the bases of some tree types acting as a sort of “nutrient feeder”, allowing the tree to grow. Rooted Tiberium = grows plants, Glacier tiberium = dirt/moss. The tree on the right should have more of a crystal canopy (like regular trees have leaves) to absorb sunlight & the energy from ion strikes

Additionally, we have a model for the Juggernaut/Behemoth (See below).

http://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/387/386587/juggernaut-wireframe.jpg
Concepted in the Juggernaut is the potential for upgrades including laser sight (increased accuracy), emp shells (for long range disable, set on CD), chaingun, rocket launcher, and bunker (behemoth). The upgrades are still under discussion but we would love to hear your thoughts on what the juggernaut should have and your opinions on the model! -Jay

Stay tuned for the next episode of jackass, I mean, C&CIV, for exclusive in-game screens! -C7

Hey! S_P_R here,

I’m here with some mapping updates, we will have a new array of skirmish maps and (after the first release) mission maps but for now I’m going to show you a few pics from my newest skirmish map for Tiberian Eclipse, It is an unnamed 4 player blue zone map, with tiberium nodes, Defense cannons, and some recourse structures. But enough with the talking here are some pictures!

Videos, Concepts, and more

This July, we have some interesting things to show you, first we have a teaser video made by PizzaAtomica:

We also have some concepts, this is a preview for the Nod Battle Fortress for the Black Hand that resembles the Montauk from Tiberian Sun.

We also want to give you a sneak peak at the new Purifier Mark II for the Black Hand:

purifier

And you might have heard rumors of the names for factions if you have been watching on our website, they are true and the faction names are:

Nod Assault -> Black Hand

Nod Defense -> Marked of Kane

Nod Support -> The Ascended

GDI Assault -> Steel Talons

GDI Defense -> ZOCOM

GDI Support -> Iron Phoenix

We also are working on bringing the crates over from C&C4 into C&C3, this is a demo of what they will look like and function as (Note: Crates have been divided into Rank & Free unit crates, so you know what you’ll be getting in a sense).

Last but not least we have new rank icons for the GDI, Nod, and neutral units:

And now that little off-topic section:

Are you tired of seeing the same story with different characters and setting, are you looking for something new? Go watch inception, parts of it might make you say wtf, but it was still great and some parts blew my mind. – C7

Hard at work (play?)

While many of us maintain jobs, school and the like, progress on the mod has continued. We have a few new animations coming up as well as some new models. Things are progressing smoothly, if not a bit slowly. I was planning on attaching a new animation but unfortunately the media uploader is currently on siesta and I don’t have the immediate time to fix it. Regardless, we will update moddb once we have a wealth of intel to show.

Additionally, Im looking for a couple of good men/women to maintain community news on the website. If you think you have a eye for good news and would like to share what the community has to offer, feel free to apply in our forums.

Site URL Fully working

Incase you havent noticed, the url to our website is now in full effect. http://www.tiberianeclipse.com/

10,000 Hits

Since launching the website 2 months ago, we have received over 10,000 hits. A small milestone for any website, but in 2 months thats phenomenal. Thanks for checking us out and showing your support everyone!

Side Note: After extensive debugging, the news posts have finally been fixed and should display at the correct length in chrome/safari/IE (ok, maybe not IE)

Mod Progression

[Quick Note: There are 2 news posts to check out today. Use the navigation on the left to read about the Evolution of the mod]

Note 2: With the recent long news post, I realize there are some problems displaying the full length of the post. Im working on fixing this asap. In the meantime refreshing or scrolling to other news posts and back should fix the problem long enough to view the post.

Welcome back Commander. We appreciate your dedication to the cause. As many of you may have noticed, we finally have our new layout online, and if all goes well it should stay this way. Progress is continuing on the mod and we will reveal more details on the website as it becomes available. Again, the website will be the first line of news for the mod.

Now the website design is a bit premature, but it should be in running order. There’s a forum link for the website (under general) where you can post any bugs / feature requests you might have.

Modeling

We have finally got someone to finish the scorpion tank model, however it still requires some finishing touches, but I’m sure you will all enjoy the work that we have put into it so far. Please feel free to comment so we can improve our models before texturing and coding in game so we can offer you all the best experience when the mod is released.

YoTeo

Texturing

We have a new flame turret model by vhu9644 which has been favored over the previous concept. Additionally, We have received a lot of feedback relating to the Titan mech shown previously and have decided to lean more towards the KW textures since they seem to be more “detailed”. Even though we want to go more towards KW textures, our texture artist is new to texturing and as such we could use some people that have experience in this field. Again, let us know what you think of the model & texture.

Nod Flame Turret
With the help of the community and C&C fans worldwide we can improve the textures and models to a quality that everyone can be proud of. And last, but certainly not least:

Concepts by PizzaAtomica

The new nod harpy just flew in, check it out:

Nod Harpy Sketch

Units

The Fire Scarab: The Nod Assault’s version of the flame tank, still as good as the original, but lighter, faster, and cheaper to produce allowing massive quantities to be manufactured.

Remember all of this can be found on our official site Tiberian Eclipse and don’t forget to follow our twitter!

And now some eye candy:

Evolution

Looking back over the past couple of months, I thought I’d take a minute to share with everyone the progress that has been made with this mod, in terms of graphics, goals, and quality standards. So lets roll back to the beginning.

When the mod first started, it barely had a name. From “The C&C4 remake” to “C&C4 Redux” and then finally to “Tiberian Eclipse”, the mod has grown from a shady group getting together in obscure forums to a skilled team of over 15 members working day and night trying to bring the mod together. Here’s a look at the first logo that was done when the mod was just a fledgeling.
Redux Logo

From that and a few spare minutes, the first website draft was born. It was never used, but rather the concept was sent to the mod developer, Coolness7. Unknown to JPNyt at the time, C7 would keep contacting him till he joined the team. [yes, I'm talking third person... moving on]
First Redux design

After weeks of working and reworking the design, JPNyt finally came up with something decent enough to represent the mod on a full scale. After a recommendation to change the name and a quick vote, the mod name was officially changed to “Tiberian Eclipse”. The design never made it through, but was continually pushed back and redesigned to facilitate the needs of the team and community.
First Official Website draft

After some more time, the website was reworked again to incorporate a sidebar and content. This design made public for a short while so the forums could go online. The news system was implemented but never brought online. It was quickly realized this design would not work well for presenting massive amounts of content. And that brings us to what we have today.
Second Official Website draft

Last I would like to share with you this. Along the design process sometimes interesting effects or tweaks happen that you just have to save for future reference. They may never be used, and often are not intended, but non-the-less, they are still interesting to look at.
An interesting effect

This post will be replaced shortly with the news from our moddb page, but I hope you enjoy a peek at the progress the mod and the team have made from the beginning so few months ago.

Welcome

Hey guys, thanks for following us for all this time. As you may have noticed, we finally have our new layout online, and if all goes well it should stay this way.

Progress is continuing on the mod and we have a few new models, but until we have them textured and prepped, we’re going to hold back on revealing them. In the mean time, we will be adding more information to the site.

Now this design is a bit premature, but it should be in running order. There’s a forum link for the website (under general) where you can post any bugs / feature requests you might have. Currently it is possible to bookmark only main pages (the links in the top), but with any luck it will be changed so anything can be bookmarked. When this happens you will notice a drop-down menu under the navigation up top.
